Securitize, the NYSE-listed tokenization platform with roughly $5 billion in assets under management, and LG CNS, the technology services arm of South Korea’s LG Group, announced a strategic partnership on October 6 to build tokenized asset infrastructure for Korean financial institutions. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding covering tokenized funds, equities and stablecoins, according to a joint announcement .
The agreement pairs Securitize’s regulated tokenization rails, which it operates in the United States and European Union, with LG CNS’s reach across Korea’s financial sector. The collaboration spans three areas: market development across Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region, technology and product work tailored to Korean institutions, and digital asset infrastructure that could eventually connect Korean and global markets for round-the-clock settlement of tokenized securities and stablecoins.
Why South Korea Matters for Institutional Tokenization
South Korea has been preparing for tokenized securities issuance and circulation through a formal government roadmap , positioning it as one of the more advanced Asian markets for regulated tokenization.
LG CNS already has direct experience in the space, having worked with steelmaker POSCO in July to tokenize trade receivables on Injective . That track record, combined with Securitize’s licensed infrastructure, is what the two companies say will let them build practical, compliant applications rather than pilot concepts.
What the Partnership Actually Covers
The MOU is exploratory rather than a live product launch, and the companies said any products or services will depend on applicable laws and regulatory approvals. The most concrete near-term elements are joint go-to-market initiatives, technical implementation and ecosystem education. “South Korea has one of the world’s most sophisticated technology and financial markets, making it an important market for the next phase of institutional tokenization,” said Carlos Domingo, Securitize’s co-founder and chief executive.
Securitize has already brought funds onchain with Apollo, BlackRock, KKR and Hamilton Lane, while LG CNS leads system integration across Korea’s finance and manufacturing sectors.
What Remains Uncertain
No launch dates, deal sizes or named institutional clients were disclosed. LG CNS executive vice president Hongkeun Kim said the goal is to help Korean institutions build practical, regulatory-compliant applications, but the partnership’s success hinges on Korea’s evolving tokenization rules and on whether the two companies convert a memorandum of understanding into deployed infrastructure.
