Morph Grows Its Stablecoin Ecosystem with New Payments Tool

Morph, the Ethereum Layer-2 network incubated within the Bitget ecosystem, launched Morph Payments on August 12, a non-custodial platform that lets businesses and freelancers accept, send and manage stablecoin payments. Funds settle directly into a user's own wallet rather than passing through Morph's custody, and the initial release supports USDC and USDT, invoicing and payment links, a transaction dashboard, and 24/7 on-chain settlement.

The launch follows Morph's July decision to split its architecture in two: Tachyon , a standalone chain for high-throughput trading, and the original Ethereum L2, which continues to handle payments and stablecoins. Morph Payments builds on that payments side, and arrives roughly six weeks after Anchorage's USDGO stablecoin went live natively on the network , giving Morph a federally regulated settlement asset alongside USDC and USDT.

Renna Ba, Morph's Head of Ecosystem, said businesses will increasingly operate across multiple stablecoins the way they already operate across multiple currencies, and that the goal is making that complexity invisible.

Morph's own announcement is direct about what it wants to happen next: it describes the launch as closing a loop, pointing to a future where routing payments, movement of assets to yield strategies, and trading, all come under platforms and products built on Morph's network.

The launch also leans on a specific market data point: adjusted stablecoin transaction volume reached $10.2 trillion over the trailing 12 months, according to Visa's Onchain Analytics dashboard , which filters out bot activity and internal exchange transfers to isolate organic settlement. That figure sits well below the $33 trillion in raw annual volume Morph's own State of Stablecoins 2026 report cited in April, underscoring how much room for growth towards that headline number remains.

Morph said it plans to introduce additional payments capabilities, including scheduled payouts and recurring payroll, over the coming months as part of a broader push to serve a wider range of payment use cases.
