According to BlockBeats, on July 31, Thomas Brunner, head of custody and staking at Sygnum Bank, stated that the number of Ethereum validators in the queue has increased to approximately 2.5 million ETH. New stakers will have to wait about 43 days to activate their tokens. However, this figure cannot be simply regarded as a bullish signal, as the backlog reflects both institutional demand and is affected by the protocol mechanism.
Brunner points out that the Dencun upgrade reduced the daily validator entry limit to approximately 57,600 ETH, a limit not increased in the Pectra upgrade. Meanwhile, Pectra allows individual validators to hold up to 2048 ETH with automatic compounding, and large operators are adding staked ETH to existing validators; even adding just 1 ETH requires them to join the same queue as the new staker. Therefore, the current backlog is partly due to the reallocation and compounding of existing staked ETH, rather than entirely due to new ETH demand.
In contrast, the near-empty exit queue provides a clearer signal. Brunner stated, "Almost no one is unstaking, which reflects genuine confidence; entering the queue measures both demand and the infrastructure mechanism." Currently, approximately 41.2 million ETH are staked, representing 33.8% of the circulating supply.
He also stated that institutions have not stopped participating despite the weakening price of ETH, and many institutions consider staking rewards an inherent property of ETH. However, validator addresses, deposit addresses, and withdrawal receipts can all be tracked, and privacy issues remain a major obstacle for institutions to expand their staking scale.
According to BlockBeats, on July 31, Amazon (AMZN) stock price rose 15.2%, the largest percentage increase since 2012, and is currently trading at $271.3, based on BIT (bit.com) market data.
