Kalshi issues its first lifetime ban: Former U.S. Congressman Santos is also fined $71,000 for market manipulation.
According to BlockBeats, on August 31, former Republican Congressman George Santos was given the first lifetime ban and fined $71,356 by prediction market platform Kalshi for violating the platform's rules on insider trading and market manipulation.
According to the disciplinary notice released by Kalshi today, he traded in the market related to whether he would attend President Trump's State of the Union address in February 2026. Subsequently, he began making a series of public statements regarding his attendance, attempting to influence the price of related contracts. Kalshi stated in the notice that some of these statements were false or misleading information.
The day before the State of the Union address, Santos posted on X: "Guys, I'll be in the audience at the State of the Union address." However, during the speech, he posted again that he was actually at the airport watching the speech on TV, writing: "FML (I'm so unlucky/I'm speechless)."
The US SEC is considering eliminating the shareholder proxy proposal rule.
According to a Bloomberg report on August 31, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) plans to repeal rules regarding when and how shareholders of publicly traded companies can file shareholder proxy proposals, according to a recent announcement from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
According to a notice released Monday, the SEC submitted the proposal to the White House OMB for review last week. This is the latest step by SEC Chairman Paul Atkins in pushing for changes to the relationship between shareholders and corporate management at publicly traded companies.
In short, the SEC is proposing to adjust the rules governing proxy proposals submitted by shareholders of publicly traded companies, and the proposal is currently under review by the OMB.
BUIDL's assets have reached $2.8 billion, regaining its title as the largest tokenized US Treasury product.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, BlackRock's BUIDL fund has regained assets of approximately $2.8 billion, surpassing Circle's USYC to become the largest tokenized US Treasury product. BUIDL represents approximately 18.5% of the $15.1 billion tokenized US Treasury market. Launched in March 2024 and managed by blockchain asset servicing company Securitize, BUIDL currently covers eight blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Aptos, and BNB Chain. Each token has a target net asset value of $1 and accumulates daily returns through a rebalancing mechanism. BUIDL was overtaken by USYC in March 2026 but regained the top spot at the end of August. Its underlying assets include cash, short-term US Treasury bonds, and repurchase agreements. Moody's awarded the fund an AAA-mf rating earlier this year. (Bitcoin.com News)

According to Odaily Planet Daily, modular public blockchain Avail stated that the Avail DA network is currently experiencing a temporary outage. The engineering team is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. The network is expected to be restored soon, and the official team will provide updates on the progress later.
