According to BlockBeats, on August 18, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) reminded developers that the gas model changes in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade may cause compatibility issues for some wallets, indexers, and gas estimation tools.

The Ethereum Foundation's protocol development and operations team stated that any tools relying on a hard-coded maximum gas limit will be affected and will require updates. The team recommends that developers test their systems in advance on the Plataberget public testnet, which will run for several months to prepare for the Glamsterdam upgrade.

According to Forkcast, an upgrade tracking platform, Plataberget went live on August 13, while the Glamsterdam fork is scheduled to be activated on the network this Thursday, followed by deployment on the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets.

This upgrade involves the EIP-8037 proposal, which introduces a separate "state gas" dimension for creating new blockchain states. After the upgrade, a regular ETH transfer to an existing account will still cost 21,000 gas, but sending ETH to a new account will incur additional state gas fees.

The Ethereum Foundation stated that developers need to re-examine software that defaults to "all ETH transfers cost only 21,000 Gas" or uses only a single Gas metric to estimate transaction costs.

In addition to Gas model adjustments, Glamsterdam will also include native proposer-builder separation (PBS), block-level access lists, and improvements such as increased contract and initialization code size limits.

The notice also states that failure to submit the declaration by August 20th may result in the suspension of investment-related services; failure to submit it by September 12th may result in the termination of such services. In response, on August 18th, an HSBC spokesperson exclusively told a reporter from National Business Daily: "We comply with relevant regulatory requirements when managing investment client relationships."
