According to BlockBeats, on September 15th, CoinShares predicted that even if the price of Bitcoin recovers further, Bitcoin mining companies that have shifted their focus to artificial intelligence infrastructure are unlikely to return to mining operations.
In its latest Q2 Bitcoin mining report, CoinShares stated that at least 35 EH/s of hashrate has planned to exit publicly traded mining companies, equivalent to 4.7% of the current Bitcoin network hashrate of approximately 750 EH/s. Currently, AI infrastructure generates approximately $1.5 million in profit per megawatt for related companies, while Bitcoin mining generates approximately $500,000. Meanwhile, the average pre-tax cash cost for publicly traded mining companies to produce one BTC in Q2 was approximately $75,500.
According to BlockBeats, on September 15th, TradingBeats monitoring showed that the whale address 0xccf3...2a75 conducted four rounds of large-scale BTC opening and closing operations tonight, with the first three rounds of positions already closed.
Data shows that the address started establishing a long position in BTC around 20:50 Beijing time, and the position once increased to about 900 BTC, worth about $68.74 million, making it the third largest long position in Hyperliquid BTC; then it closed the position at 22:09 at about $76,384.68, after holding the position for about 1 hour and 19 minutes, resulting in a loss of about $312,100.
Subsequently, at 22:54, the address opened a long position of approximately 1,000 BTC, with a position value of approximately $75.85 million, and closed the position at 23:00, making a profit of approximately $130,400, holding the position for only about 6 minutes. At 23:15, the address reversed course and opened a short position of 1,000 BTC, with a value of approximately $76.01 million; 10 minutes later, at 23:25, the position was closed, resulting in a loss of approximately $278,400.
As of press time, the address has initiated its fourth round of operations, opening a short position of 650 BTC with 40x leverage, worth approximately $49.61 million, with an average opening price of approximately $76,382. The current unrealized profit is approximately $33,600.
